Lenovo IdeaPad 110S review

The Lenovo IdeaPad 110S is a small-sized 11-inch laptop and the all-white presence makes it unique yet reminds of the decade old MacBook. The Lenovo Ideapad series has produced affordable, easy functionality laptops for casual users. This is also one of the reasonable Lenovo laptops from the series that appeals within a minute of its presence. The comfortable keyboard, compact size and elegant colour makes this laptop stand out among the rest.

There is nothing overdone in the Lenovo IdeaPad 110S, which is meant to be a basic option for everyday consumers. If you are a student, home user, a parent or maybe a youngster with school, this could be your best choice. There is an SSD storage opted in this Ideapad, making it easier to store a good amount of files, programs and apps in your laptop.

Design, Look & Build Quality

The white casing of the Lenovo IdeaPad 110S obviously turns out to be the most highlighting element when you take a glance. Considering the price, the mostly plastic surface doesn’t seem like an injustice, in fact the rigidness makes it sturdy. All and everything in white with Lenovo logo design makes this IdeaPad looks classy as ever. You wouldn’t really feel like you are holding something cheaper. Even though, there are other colours available in this laptop, the white one seals the deal for us.

The 11.6-inch size is exactly what you need from the Lenovo IdeaPad and its 1.1 kg weight makes it highly portable. Carrying it in your backpack or just a handbag won’t feel like you are handling any device pressure. The actual measurement of the laptop is to be 11.5 x 8 x 0.7 inches, making it sleek and transportable. There is a stiffness in the casing when you bend the lid but this is also what makes it less hazardous to accidental drops.

Keyboard & Touchpad

The keyboard attached with the Lenovo IdeaPad 110S comes in island style and deep key layout. There is a metallic button that is included alongside and attracts the eye as soon as you view the laptop. If you hear the typing noise of the keys and specifically space bar, it is unexpectedly quiet. This is indeed a good thing for vivid typing experts, who need to work consecutively. The touchpad feels a little hard and sometimes uneasy to have gesture control. But it sure works fine for several operations and commands without having to deal with extra hand navigation.

Lenovo IdeaPad 110S Display

Lenovo IdeaPad 110S has got a matte surface display of 11.6-inch which provides an HD plus Resolution. Now, we know that is surely not a full HD pixel Res, but it does the job as per it states. Plus, to be quite honest, this is what you can justifiably get through this cheap price. The display has a TN panel which we wished could be the IPS one, for better viewing angles. There is no reflection on the surface due to the matte surface, so you can work under sunlight with no issues. The screen covers an Srgb colour gamut coverage of nearly 80%, for colour contrast and schemes. You can watch your favourite videos and movies, play casual games with fine graphics. But do not expect a full HD quality out of it any way. In addition, the maximum brightness is only around 213 nits which is low for bright lighting conditions.

Lenovo IdeaPad 110S Performance

The performance of the Lenovo IdeaPad 110S is just as one would expect. With its Intel Celeron processor, it operates with the base speed of 1.6 GHz and a max turbo speed of 2.24 GHz. This is perfect for casual computing, daily basic digital activities and using your laptop for simple tasks. Of course, this laptop can not take any complex or heavy digital tasks. But, if all you have to do it check up on mails, use several social media platforms, it can just be on it without reluctancy.

There is a 2GB RAM installed in this Lenovo laptop which is supported by the 32GB SSD storage. The solid-state drive means you can enhance your storage levels without hurdles.  But, 32GB is definitely low for average storage needs. However, thankfully, Lenovo has made sure to include a microSD card option for enhancing storage. The operating system installed in the device is the most user-friendly OS, which is perfect for updates apps layout.

Lenovo IdeaPad 110S Battery

Even though, our expectations regarding the battery life of the Lenovo Ideapad 110S were quite high, it was not just the case. The 39.1 Wh battery power makes it quite an average laptop for battery lasting time. With usual operative flow, you can have the laptop last out longer than 6 hours. It lasts exactly around 6.5 hours which is a fair timing for the office but not great.

Pros
  • Extremely Portable
  • Comfortable & User-friendly Keyboard
  • Sufficient Performance
  • Attractive appearance
  • Micro SD card reader
Cons
  • Short battery
  • Stiff case
  • Average Speakers

Verdict

The Lenovo IdeaPad 110S, on an overall basis, satisfies on the budget. It delivers what it gives except few disappointments like the battery life. The performance is satisfactory for daily casual users, plus the display meets its deliverables. The key factor of the laptop is its classy build, great colour scheme and of course the keyboard. Normally, one would enjoy using this laptop for fun, casual use and checking up the browser or documents.
