Build, Design & Keyboard

Just like the previous Legion gaming laptops, the Lenovo Legion 5i shared a similarity in its design. It is given a standard gaming console with only a few prominent changes. The quality of the build is incredibly strong despite of having a bit subdued crafted design. The plastic build is sturdier to hold, but there’s still a soft touch to the surface. The lid is made with polymer which is very different from the metal. You can bend it easily with both hands, and the shine in Legion logo feels like you are in the gaming arena. The overall thickness of the device is slim, and the weight of 5.5 pounds make it comparatively lighter. It is portable enough to take it along you in your backpack or travel with it in any way.

The keyboard is fixated with the edgy corners and has a full Number Pad on its right side. The keys feel soft to touch, making it competitively faster for fast typists. They keyboard has been improved with an extra responsive keycap as compared to other Legions. The 1.5mm key travel makes it seemingly usable and highly comfortable in gaming sessions or typing long documents. The arrow keys are larger and the shape of the keys is sculpted, making it easier to glide on and press.

Display

The 15.6-inch display attached with the Lenovo Legion 5i produces 144 Hz refresh rate and has a full HD Resolution. The 1920 x 1080 Resolution rate is good to have in any gaming laptop with a whopping refreshing speed. It even has the capacity to reach up to 60 fps for high-tier games like PUBG. Plus, there is IPS panel setting in the screen which makes the viewing angles comfortable than ever. It is able to deliver the maximum brightness of around 300 nits for bright light conditions.

Performance

The Lenovo Legion 5i is boasted with the latest 10th Gen CPU model of Intel Core i5. It has got the base speed of 2.5 GHz and can easily reach the maximum turbo speed of 4.5 GHz, in intervals. If you are in the middle of intense gaming session, this Quad core processor can take up great speed. We didn’t witness any significant lags or slowdowns while we were playing the Battlefields V.

The advance integration of dedicated graphics aka NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 makes it even more ideal. It is integrated with the 4GB memory and processes heavy graphics with minimum glitches and screen stuttering. Having discrete graphics by NVIDIA means your laptop is going to have zero issues regarding visuals. Plus, the speed with this GPU setting becomes faster than ever and you can consecutively load, execute any apps.

Battery

There is a major inclusion in terms of battery power referring to the 80 Whr, meaning you will get through the day quite easily. With continuous video playback, you can fetch almost 9 hours of battery life. The usual web surfing, random video playback and viewing multiple apps or programs can last the Legion 5i around 12 hours.

Verdict

The midrange value and speedy specs range make the Lenovo Legion 5i a great all-rounder. If you always desire a steady, reliable, and fast speed in a reasonable price, the Legion is the best option. The hardware equipment keeps up with the gaming requirements, intense apps usage and regular workflow. You can replace the GPU with even faster card if you need a higher level of performance from the graphics. On an overall basis, we recommend this laptop to budget gaming users, students and creative professionals.
