Design & Build

Most of you could expert a flimsy feel from this incredibly thin and lightweight ASUS laptop. But when we actually observed and felt it ourselves, it was sturdier than we imagined. Mostly, the build is made with the aluminium alloy material with the magnesium blend. It is not entirely aluminium which apparently makes it thinner and light in weight. Regardless, the metallic flex finish makes the overall build quality competitively high. The size of the Expertbook doesn’t necessarily brings the vibe that it could be this light with its 14-inch display and a sufficient width.

The colours of this ASUS Notebook are much more interesting with midnight blue hues that mixes the pearlescent effect of tiny pink and blueish glitters.  The first glimpse of the Expertbook gives it a slate grey finish, however as we mentioned it is not exactly that. The midnight blue is rather striking and also gives reflection with a Chrome ASUS logo that reflects transparently.

Now, let’s come straight to the star element of the entire review which is the ultimate portability with its weight. The laptop measures to be around 12.6 x 8 x 0.6 inches with the weight of just 2.2 pounds. This is a treat for daily travelers or the one who have to be more frequently on the go and be working at the same time.

Display

The 14-inch display of the ASUS Expertbook 14 comes with a non-touch IPS screen that delivers the full HD Resolution. The 1920 x 1080 p Res makes sure to provide vivid, clear, and crisp detailing on the images and video graphics. The display is crafted with thinner bezels giving it a wider viewing angle and comfortable watch time. The matte finish of the screen saves it from usual reflection so you can easily work below the sunlight. There is anti-glare coating on the surface of the display so you are much less probable of getting any strain on the eyes.

Overall, the display covers nearly 115% sRGB colour gamut which means you will come across brighter, colder, and vast colours. The brightness of the screen turns out to be around 320 nits at maximum. This is not bad and not that great as compared to some higher brightness models like Elite DragonFly.

Keyboard

The keyboard attached with the ASUS Expertbook is slightly different than the other laptops. It is angled from its backside which is because of the Ergolift hinge. So, you will come across a lifted back from its upper edge, so the deck is downwards. This makes the typing experience comfortable than ever and you can type much more quickly.

Ports

Another impressive integration in the ASUS Expertbook 14 is its useful collection of ports. There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports added with the USB C which is found to be more than commonly included ports. Further ports include HDMI port, USB Type A 3.2 port, one more micro HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack slot. The fact that there is a full-sized HDMI added in this laptop is remarkable so one can depend on extra connectivity.
